probability of rain in Delhi? Strings of opinionated predictions surprise people

New Delhi: Delhiites woke up to a humid morning on Monday (July 11, 2022) and the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.1 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of the year. Today the maximum temperature is likely to be 35 degree Celsius. The relative humidity stood at 75 per cent at 8.30 am. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a chance of light rain or drizzle for the day, however, for the past few days, the Meteorological Department has been struggling to make an accurate forecast of rain in the national capital.

Monsoon effectively embraced Delhi on June 30, but since then rains have repeatedly missed the capital.

A series of directionless forecasts by IMD leave Delhiites shocked

Earlier, on July 4, the IMD had issued a yellow alert for July 5 and an orange alert for July 6, which was later shifted to July 7. The Meteorological Department later predicted “widespread to widespread rainfall activity” over western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan issued yellow alert on July 9 and July 10, warning of moderate rain in the capital on Sunday. But it did not rain in Delhi on any of these days.
