Bengaluru: Sachin did a great job helping out Patna Pirates beat the defending champion Bengal Warrior 38-29 in their Pro Kabbadi League Season 8 match here on Sunday.
Sachin scored a Super 10 (11 points) and was supported by Guman Singh (7 points) in the raiding unit.
The Pirates’ defense was also in top form, with Mohamedreza Shadloi picking up a high 5. This win helped Patna Pirates to top the points table. The three-time champions are now the favorites to finish in the top-2 which will see them enter the semi-finals of Season 8 directly.
Bengal Warriors had another poor day on the mat, with both their defense and attack struggling. Now he will have to win all the remaining matches of the season to make it to the Eliminator.
Patna controlled the first half before a mass show. Their raiders Sachin and Guman Singh made easy mistakes from the Bengal defenders to give them an early lead.
Bengal raiders including Maninder Singh had no such luck at the other end, with Mohammadreja Shadloi in the left corner.
Bengal made a short comeback when Abozar Mighani and Manoj Gowda made two tackles. But Patna was relentless in their effort for that all out and achieved it with two minutes to go at half-time.

Even the generally credible Ran Singh’s night in the left corner of Bengal was flawed. But despite dominance, the Pirates failed to score another All Out.
Patna had taken a lead of 8 points with five minutes remaining in the match. Sachin got his Super 10 as Patna finally got their second All Out. This led to an 11-point lead.
