Priyanka Gandhi slams Center for not having any data on martyr farmers, government is ‘insulting’ them

New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the central government for claiming that it has no records of farmers killed during agitations at Delhi’s borders against three agricultural laws since 2020.

Alleging that the government was looking at the issue through the prism of its “billionaire friends”, the Congress general secretary said the BJP-led government was continuously “insulting” farmers, and it should repeal the laws.

Taking to her official Twitter handle today, Priyanka said, “The BJP government said in Parliament that neither it made any effort to know farmers’ opinion on the three black agricultural laws nor does it have any data on how many farmers were martyred.

Sharing the post on the microblogging site, he used the Hindi hashtag, which translates to “withdraw the black farm laws”.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told Parliament on Friday that the government has no records of farmers who have been killed since last year during agitations along Delhi’s borders against three new agricultural laws.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been protesting at the borders of Delhi since November last year against the three agricultural laws. A group of 200 farmers from among the agitating farmers are now protesting at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi after getting special permission.
