Priyanka Gandhi reaches Varanasi’s Kabir Math to woo Dalit voters in UP, will hold rallies in phase 7 districts

In an attempt to turn the Congress around in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has started campaigning for the seventh and final phase of polling from the high-profile Varanasi constituency, where she is expected to hold a public meeting in the next three days.

Priyanka reached Kabir Chaura Math in Varanasi today, where she will be staying for the next three days, Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi told News18. He did ‘Kabirdas ki Mulgaadi’, and the ‘Math Ke Mahant’ shared memories of Kabir Das, a 15th-century saint and poet who spent his entire life in the monastery.

She will address public meetings in Sonbhadra and Obra today and in several adjoining districts in the coming days. “The development of this area was done by the Congress government at the Center and we are sure that the people of this area will shower their love on the Congress,” Awasthi said.

He visited the samadhi of Neeru-Nima, the parents of Kabir Das’s foster parents at the Kabir Math, and also saw old material related to the saint’s childhood, he said.

His visit to Kabir Math gives a strong political message to the downtrodden and most backward classes of Uttar Pradesh who believe in social justice and equality promoted by Kabir Das.

Kabir Chaura is a global center of music and is also a Siddhpeeth of three major styles of North Indian classical music – classical singing, Kathak dance and tabla. According to the information, Priyanka Gandhi along with her chosen companions visited three representative families of three branches of singing, instrumental and dance through the narrow streets of Kabir Chaura. She also met Pandit Puran Maharaj, son of Padma Vibhushan late Pandit Kishan Maharaj and his disciples and acquaintances and listened to the table for some time.
