Priyanka Chopra, ‘The Activist’ judges apologize to Global Citizen: ‘We got it wrong’

recently, Priyanka Chopra, Julianne Hough and Usher sparked controversy when it was announced that they would judge a show called The Activists for Global Citizens. The show’s format was intended to be a competition between six activists working on various issues, who would be judged on the basis of “online engagement, social metrics and input from hosts”. And the winner will get a grant and have the opportunity to participate in the G20 summit. The show received a strong response from netizens, who criticized it for making hyperactivity into a game. Many called it a “Black Mirror episode” and “the end of the world.”

Now, Global Citizen has released a statement announcing that they will change the format of the show and shoot it again. He also apologized for involving the three judges in the controversy.

The statement read, “The activist was designed to show a broad audience the passion, long hours and ingenuity that activists put into changing the world, hopefully inspiring others to do the same. It’s done as the show’s format announcement distracts from the important work these incredible activists do every day in their communities. The push for global change is no competition and requires a global effort. ”

It further said that the show will be changed to ‘removing the competition element’ and will instead be turned into a ‘primetime documentary special’. “It will showcase the tireless work of six activists and the advocacy impact of a cause they deeply believe in. Each worker will be awarded a cash grant for an organization of their choice, as planned for the original show. We hope that by showcasing their work, we will inspire more people to get involved in addressing the world’s most important issues. We hope to highlight the mission and lives of each of these incredible people. Look forward,” the statement concluded.

He also issued a separate statement that included an apology. “Global activism is focused on collaboration and collaboration, not competition. We apologize to activists, hosts and the larger activist community, “we got it wrong,” to feel the change and lift up the incredible activists,” the philanthropic organization said. It is our responsibility to use this platform in the most effective way possible. We are dedicating our life to progress across the globe.”

Meanwhile, while Priyanka has not said anything about the controversy, Julianne Hough also issued a statement saying that she is “not qualified” to judge activism and will learn from the fuss.
