Prithvi Shaw’s County Cricket Stint Hits Visa Roadblock: Details Inside

India’s young batsman Prithvi Shaw has suffered a setback in his plans to play for English county, Northamptonshire, due to visa complications. Shaw has reportedly signed a contract with Northamptonshire for the remainder of the county season and is expected to feature in the Royal London One-Day Cup, starting in August. He was to join Northamptonshire on 16 July after the conclusion of the Duleep Trophy 2023. However, he is yet to get his passport and visa back from the British Embassy in Delhi. According to a report in Times of India, this will lead to a delay of more than two weeks.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier given special permission to Prithvi Shaw to miss the Deodhar Trophy and take part in his first county stint in England. He was to leave for England on 17 July.

The report also mentioned that Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar could join Kent as a possible replacement for Indian left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep is part of India’s T20 squad for the West Indies series, where the team will play five T20 matches from August 3 to 13.

Talking about his association with Northamptonshire, Prithvi Shaw said that he has been going to England for some time now and understands the conditions very well.

“Even before the 2018 U-19 World Cup, we played there. After that, I have played many matches with India A. So, I am well aware of the pitches and conditions there. Prithvi Shaw told Cricbuzz, I had scored a lot of runs for India A as well.

Prithvi Shaw also said that he is in touch with this new team and he hopes to have a good stint with the new team. “I don’t think now would be the right time to make any adjustments to my game. Whatever adjustments I had to make in my game have already been made. Once I get out there and get my eyes, I just need to play my natural game.
