Prisoner allegation in Punjab, word ‘terrorist’ written on the bench, orders for investigation

A prisoner lodged in a jail in Punjab’s Barnala has accused the jail superintendent of writing the word ‘terrorist’ on his back and torturing him with an iron rod.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa has ordered a thorough investigation and medical examination of 28-year-old prisoner Karamjit Singh. DIG Ferozepur Tajinder Singh Maur will investigate.

A prisoner serving a life sentence in a murder case has alleged that the word ‘terrorist’ is inscribed on his back.
