PM Modi will also inaugurate the foot overbridge on the Sabarmati

GANDHINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Gujarat on a two-day visit, beginning August 27. He is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for various developmental projects and attend various programmes in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bhuj. On Saturday evening, the PM will address Khadi Utsav at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Smriti Van Memorial in Bhuj. It has been built in an area of around 470 acres to celebrate the spirit of resilience shown by the people of Gujarat, following the 2001 earthquake. Then the PM will lay the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 4,400 crore in Bhuj, including the Bhuj-Bhimasar Road. He will inaugurate the Kutch branch canal of the Sardar Sarovar Project, which will help in providing water for drinking and irrigation to all 948 villages and 10 towns in the Kutch district. The PM will inaugurate various other projects including the new automatic milk processing and packing plant of Sarhad Dairy, the Regional Science Centre in Bhuj, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre in Gandhidham, and Veer Bal Smarak in Anjar.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, ‘Khadi Utsav’ is being organized to pay tribute to khadi and its importance during the freedom struggle.
The event will be held at the Sabarmati Riverfront and will witness 7,500 women khadi artisans from various districts, spinning charkha live at the same time.
The PM will inaugurate the new office building of the Gujarat Rajya Khadi Gramodyog Board and a foot overbridge across the Sabarmati. In the evening, the PM will address a programme in Gandhinagar, commemorating 40 years of Suzuki in India. He will lay the foundation stones for two key projects of the Suzuki group in India: the Suzuki Motor Gujarat electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility at Hansalpur in Gujarat and Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming vehicle manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda in Haryana.
