Highly placed sources told TOI that the prime minister is likely to inaugurate Ayodhya’s Deepotsav on November 3, which will set the stage for the longest Diwali celebrations by Yogi Adityanath’s government. Top officers of the Department of Tourism and Culture and Ayodhya Development Authority Preparations have started on a war footing for the event, which will also set a new Guinness record for lighting 6.5 lakh diyas.
Though Vishal Singh, vice-chairman of the Ayodhya Development Authority, did not officially confirm the PM’s itinerary, he said, “We will be lucky that the PM will be in Ayodhya again.” Diwali celebrations in the temple city will be very special this year as the Deepotsav theme may be designed by Nitin Chandrakant Desai, the brains behind the scintillating sets of several Bollywood blockbusters. Desai’s proposal to design the Deepotsav set has been sent to the state government for approval. A decision will be taken soon,” Singh said. The star-studded Ramlila sets on the Saryu coast will also leave an impression of grandeur and the landscape of the city will be decorated to imitate the ‘Treta Yuga’ of Lord Rama. ADA Vice President Vishal Singh said that at least Rs 35 crore would be spent on the beautification project.
