New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several projects in Somnath, Gujarat through video conferencing on Friday morning.
Union Home Minister, Union Tourism Minister were present along with Gujarat CM and Deputy CM on this occasion.
Here are the main points-

  • The projects which were inaugurated today include Somnath resort, Somnath Exhibition Center, and the reconstructed temple complex of old (Juna) Somnath.
  • During the program, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of Shri Parvati Temple. The temple is proposed to be constructed with a total outlay of Rs 30 crore. This includes the construction of the temple in the Sompura Salat style, the development of the sanctum sanctorum and the dance pavilion.
  • Somnath Promenade has been developed under PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Promotion Campaign) scheme at a total cost of? 47 crores.
  • Somnath Exhibition Center developed in the premises ofTourist Facilitation Center‘, displays the fragmented parts of the old Somnath temple and the sculptures with Nagara style temple architecture of the old Somnath.
  • The reconstructed temple complex of old (Juna) Somnath has been completed by Shree Somnath Trust With a total outlay of Rs 3.5 crore.
  • This temple is also known as Ahilyabai Temple as it was built by Rani Ahilyabai of Indore, when she found that the old temple was in ruins.
  • The entire old temple complex has been completely redeveloped for the safety and enhanced capacity of the pilgrims.
  • The construction of Shri Parvati Temple is proposed with a total outlay of Rs.30 crore. This includes the construction of the temple in the Sompura Salat style, the development of the sanctum sanctorum and the dance pavilion.
