Prime Minister Narendra Modi greets Indian Coast Guard personnel on Raising Day

Indian Coast Guard Day 2022: Congratulating the Indian Coast Guard on its Raising Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is protecting our coasts and is also at the forefront of humanitarian efforts. The Maritime Law Enforcement Agency is celebrating its 46th Raising Day today on 1 February.

“Greetings to the Indian Coast Guard family on their Raising Day. An organization of great strategic importance, our Coast Guard is an outstanding team of professionals, who firmly secure our shores and are also at the forefront of humanitarian efforts,” he tweeted.

Coast Guard Day is celebrated in honor of the organizations of every country who care for maritime security and also the need of a country. The Coast Guard ranks voluntarily, with the responsibility of conducting search and rescue operations and guarding the borders of our country.

The Indian Coast Guard is headed by a Director General, headquartered in New Delhi. The current Director General is Virender Singh Pathania.

The task of the Indian Coast Guard varies for many sectors. This organization works for multi-mission. It is a collaboration of the Indian Navy, Customs and Police. Different areas have been allotted to the guards. The North-West Zone is located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the Eastern Zone in Chennai and the North-East Zone in Kolkata and Andaman and Nicobar Zones.

Presently, the Indian Coast Guard has 156 ships and 62 aircraft. The organization plans to build 200 ships and 100 twin-engine aircraft by 2025. They also choose a theme every year, but the theme for this year is yet to be decided. Following the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government launched a program to expand the Indian Coast Guard, assets and infrastructure.
