Presidential Polls 2022: Not Draupadi Murmu, AAP to support Yashwant Sinha

New Delhi: As the presidential elections approach, political parties are declaring their support – while the NDA candidate is Draupadi Murmu, the opposition’s choice is Yashwant Sinha. Now Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has announced its support to Sinha. AAP MP Sanjay Singh says, “AAP will support the opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha. We respect Draupadi Murmu but we will vote for Yashwant Sinha.

Murmu, a tribal leader-turned-governor, had earlier expressed that she was both shocked and happy to learn on television that she had been nominated for the top post by the NDA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had lauded former Jharkhand governor Draupadi Murmu after she was announced as the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA candidate for the presidential election to be held on July 18. On the other hand, senior TMC leader Yashwant Sinha was announced as the opposition’s candidate for Presidential Election 2022. Murmu had on Thursday visited Mumbai as part of his election campaign and met BJP MLAs and MPs from Maharashtra as well as legislators of its allies, including the Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction.
