President Ram Nath Kovind arrives in Lucknow as part of UP tour, Governor hosts dinner in honor

Lucknow: President Ram Nath Kovind, who is on a five-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, was hosted for tea and dinner by Governor Anandiben Patel at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday, where Chief Justice of India NV Ramana was also present, a statement said. .

A Raj Bhavan release said that the first lady Savita Kovind, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Law Minister Brijesh Pathak, besides Allahabad High Court judge and his wife were also present at the event.

The Governor presented mementos to the President and the CJI.

Patel had earlier welcomed the President and his wife by presenting them angavastras at the Raj Bhavan. President Kovind paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Bhavan.

Earlier in the day, Kovind reached here from Kanpur by Rashtrapati Express train on a two-day visit.

Governor Patel, Chief Minister Adityanath, state ministers and a large number of senior officials and public representatives welcomed him at Charbagh railway station here.

The President went straight to the Raj Bhavan from the railway station.

On Tuesday, he will lay the foundation stone of the Ambedkar Memorial Cultural Center before flying to New Delhi.

The state cabinet last week gave its approval for the transfer of land for setting up the cultural centre.

The President had reached Kanpur on June 25.

He was in Kanpur for the last three days, during which he, apart from meeting dignitaries and eminent people, also visited his native village Paraunkh in Kanpur Dehat on Sunday and interacted with his old acquaintances.
