Preparation to deal with attacks like Jammu: Government working on techniques to thwart drone attacks, counter drone policy will be brought soon

Government of India has started work on making counter drone policy. This decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by PM Modi on Tuesday after two consecutive days of drone activity after the drone attack on the Jammu airbase. The need for permanent deployment of counter drone systems in the entire Jammu and Punjab region was discussed in the meeting.

According to NDTV, this strategy was discussed in the meeting on how to prevent terrorist attacks through drones. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also attended the meeting.

Government alert after 3 consecutive days of drone activity
Drone activity has been witnessed thrice in the last three days in Jammu region. The first drone attack took place on the Jammu airbase on Saturday night. In this, two Air Force personnel received minor injuries and the roof of a building was damaged. After this, the drone was also seen on the Kaluchak Military Base in Jammu on Sunday night. Then late Monday night, a suspicious drone was seen near Sunjwan Military Station. The government has become alert due to drone activity thrice within three days.

The model to be adopted was also told in the counter drone policy which was discussed in the high level meeting of the PM on Tuesday. The model will use radio frequency (RF) detectors, electro-optical and infrared cameras, radar, drone catching nets, GPS spoofers, lasers and RF jammers.

Technology will be ready with the help of National Technical Research Organization
It is being told that the Indian Air Force will act as the nodal agency to deal with this technology. The government wants the Air Force to coordinate efforts to deal with drone attacks in the future. The help of National Technical Research Organization, the country’s tech intelligence agency, will also be taken in the technology to deal with counter drones.

On the other hand, the Border Security Force (BSF) is also going to get a platform that will be able to detect and react rapidly to suspicious flying objects or unmanned aircraft (UAVs). At the same time, the army has already been given approval to buy drones equipped with artificial intelligence, which can be deployed during attacks like Jammu.

Drones banned in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district
In view of the use of drones and other flying objects by anti-nationals, the decision to ban has been taken in Rajouri district. The storage, sale, possession, use or transport of drones or any small flying object is prohibited here.
