Pre-Holi skincare tips to keep in mind – Times of India

with Holi Around the corner, it is the perfect time to rejoice with colors and water. However, Holi can also be a time of caution as artificial colors can cause many problems. Be it dryness of the skin, allergies or hair fall, artificial Holi colors have an overall bad effect. So, it becomes really important to make sure that the person is fully prepared to avoid this from happening.

Here are some quick and easy tips that you can follow to prevent damage to skin and hair while enjoying the spirit of Holi.

One can start by following the pre-Holi care which can help in minimizing the deeper and worse effects on the day of Holi.

Use ice cubes on your skin

You can apply ice on your face before stepping out on the day of Holi as it can help in unclogging your skin pores. Simply massage the ice cubes gently on your clean face for about 10 minutes. This simple trick won’t let the colors seep inside your skin and cause damage.

apply oil to your skin

Before going out and playing Holi, apply oil well on your skin. This will help create a barrier between your skin and the colors. The oils will not allow the colors to penetrate your skin and will also make it easier to remove them later. A mixture of different oils such as coconut oil, almond oil or castor oil can be used.

Use sunscreen and moisturizer

Like other days, sunscreen is also needed before playing Holi. Before stepping out and playing Holi in the sun, it is important that you apply a thick layer of sunscreen on your skin. Stick to a high SPF as it will not let the sun rays damage your skin and will also keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.

apply varnish to your nails

It can be very difficult to remove the colors of Holi from your nails. The colors can stay on them for weeks. An easy solution for this is to apply varnish or nail paint. This will provide a layer of protection between your nails and the color, keeping your nails clean and safe.

wear covered clothes

Try to wear clothes that cover your skin while going out to play Holi. This can reduce the surface area for skin damage. Wear full-sleeved clothing so that less areas are exposed to the dyes which means less damage.
