Actress Gehana Vashistha has been granted pre-arrest bail by the Supreme Court of India in a pornography case in which Raj Kundra is also an accused. Gehna had sought relief from arrest after the Mumbai Police registered a third FIR against her for her alleged involvement in a porn racket. Last month, a Mumbai court had denied Gehna interim protection from arrest, saying the charges against her were serious in nature. The Bombay High Court had also rejected his pre-arrest bail plea earlier this month. After this the actress moved the Supreme Court.
Gehna was arrested by the property cell of Mumbai’s crime branch for her alleged role in the shooting, uploading an obscene video on a website. The complainant has been named in an FIR for forcing her to act in pornography videos. It is said that the ‘bold’ scenes that were promised to be edited before being published on the OTT platform were not. The director of the video shot by the complainant was Gehna. He was arrested on 7 February and was granted bail in June.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch had registered a case in February 2021 regarding production of adult films and broadcasting them through mobile applications to paid subscribers. Raj Kundra and his aide Ryan Thorpe were arrested on July 20. The businessman and Thorpe on Tuesday walked out of Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail, where they were kept in judicial custody. Another accused in the case is model Sherlyn Chopra, whose anticipatory bail was also rejected by a Mumbai court last month.
