PRAYAGRAJ: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday demanded an inquiry into the death of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Mahant. Narendra Giri “To bring out the truth” by a sitting judge of the High Court.
The former CM was in the city on Tuesday to pay his last respects to Giri at Shri Math Baghambri Gaddi, Allahpur.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, “It is a matter of thorough investigation that what exactly happened to Mahant Narendra Giri, president of ABAP. Not only the countrymen, but the sages and saints also want to know why such an incident happened and what are the circumstances behind it. A fair and impartial investigation will clear the picture.”
“The SP as well as Sadhu want an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge to bring out the truth,” he said, adding, “Giri was planning to meet senior officials and ministers for the past several days. And maybe in severe depression.” “if Mahant Giri Worried, stressed or facing any other problem or his land was allegedly being grabbed by someone, a fair investigation by a sitting judge of the High Court will reveal the truth,” the former CM said. SP chief also remembered Giri’s contribution in making Kumbh 2019 a huge success. He also highlighted the interest taken by the seer during each ritual and ceremony during Kumbh. Meanwhile, SP district spokesperson Dan Bahadur said, “Giri’s death has become a mystery and no proper cause has been found so far.”
Giri was found dead on Monday inside a room in the premises of Shri Math Baghambari Gaddi, Allahpur.
