Prayagraj: Rajan Gupta alias Vishal (35) injured in firing in indiscriminate firing in Kidganj of the district Prayagraj He died late Thursday night at the district hospital.
Four people were injured after a suspended constable posted in the Excise Department in Varanasi district allegedly opened fire on two brothers in Kydganj market.
Rajan Gupta alias Vishal died during treatment, while three others including Sandeep alias Bhole Gupta (Raja’s brother), Ramji, businessman and student Narayan Tiwari were undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
Meanwhile, heavy police arrangements were made in Kidganj and adjoining areas to defuse the tension.
Angry locals blocked the traffic for an hour due to the incident.
The road was cleared after senior police and district officials assured strict action against the guilty.
Inspector General of Police (Prayagraj Range) Rakesh Singh has also suspended three policemen, including a sub-inspector, for dereliction of duty.
SP (city) Dinesh Kumar Singh said that the accused constable Vimlesh Pandey was posted in the excise department in Varanasi.
Pandey, a resident of Karchana, did not leave any chance to prove his supremacy in the area.
About three months ago, when the audio of him with a woman went viral on social media, the convicted constable was suspended.
The constable had a heated argument with Sandeep and Rajan late on Thursday evening.
Enraged, he opened fire on them, injuring him and two others.
After the incident, an agitated mob set the constable’s room on fire.
