The sound of power crisis has started in Delhi. Tata Power, a power supply company in the northern part of Delhi, has sent a message to the people asking them to be alert. It has been said in the message that the supply may be affected in the capital from 2 pm to 6 pm. If coal is not supplied soon, then after two days large scale cuts can start.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also expressed concern over the power crisis. He took a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and appealed to pay attention to this issue.

Trouble due to coal crisis
About 70% of the electricity in the country is generated from coal. The stock of coal with power plants for power generation is very less. There are 135 coal-fired power plants in the country. They have 2 to 4 days stock now.

what kejriwal wrote in the letter
The Chief Minister of Delhi has appealed to the Central Government to provide adequate quantity of coal to the power supply plants. He has asked the Center to intervene in this matter.

also a problem
About three-fourths of the country’s coal requirement is met from domestic mines, but due to heavy rains, they and transport routes have been flooded. In such a situation, the dilemma before the companies running power plants from coal is whether to pay a higher premium for the coal they get in the auction or buy it from the foreign market, where the price is already at a record high level.
Plants are getting 60-80 thousand tonnes less coal
Aluminum production companies have complained that Coal India has reduced their supply of coal to power plants. Coal Secretary Anil Kumar Jain said that the power plants are getting 60 to 80 thousand tonnes less coal every day due to water logging in the mines due to rain.
