Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra has filed a bail application in the Bombay High Court on Friday. Earlier, his bail application was rejected by the Magistrate Court and the Sessions Court in Mumbai. Kundra filed a fresh bail plea before the Bombay HC in connection with the pornography case in which he is allegedly involved.
A Mumbai sessions court on Tuesday refused pre-arrest bail to Kundra, who was arrested last month for creating and streaming pornographic material through apps. In his bail plea, Kundra said that the police had filed the chargesheet in April and was neither named nor in the FIR related to the case. The plea said that the accused named in the chargesheet are out on bail and the magistrate’s court had committed a “mistake” in rejecting their bail earlier.
“The entire order is based on conjectures and conjectures and should be set aside. The magistrate failed to understand that there is no material against the applicant to show his alleged involvement in the alleged crime.” However, in response, the police on Tuesday said that the offense is of “serious nature” and they were still under investigation. Mumbai Police has constituted a SIT (Special Investigation Team) for further investigation in the pornography case. Kundra is accused of producing and publishing porn through various apps and is currently in judicial custody. The hearing on Kundra’s bail is to be held in the court on August 20.
Mumbai Police said that the director of a company of Raj Kundra was arrested on Thursday in this case. In this case, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested Abhijit Bhomble, director in Raj’s company. An actress had earlier lodged an FIR against two directors and two producers of Raj’s company at Malvani police station.
