MumbaiAccording to ANI, the Mumbai sessions court will deliver its verdict on the bail plea of Gehana Vashistha in the alleged adult film racket case on Saturday (August 7). The “Gandi Baat” actress had filed an anticipatory bail plea before the Additional Sessions Judge as she feared arrest after the Mumbai Crime Branch registered a fresh FIR in the pornographic films case.
In the FIR, the Crime Branch has named the producers of Raj Kundra’s company and Gena Vashisht as accused. The authorities registered a case when an actress approached him and alleged that he was forced to shoot an adult film for the Hotshots app.
According to a PTI report, the Crime Branch has registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and provisions of the IT Act.
Earlier this week, a Mumbai sessions court denied Gehna interim protection from arrest, saying the charges against her were of “serious nature”.
On a related note, the Crime Branch had registered a case related to the production and circulation of obscene films in February 2021. Gehana Vashistha was also arrested in the same case.
Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 by police officials for his alleged involvement in the making of an adult film. A sessions court in Mumbai on Thursday (August 5) said it would hear the bail applications of Kundra and his aide Ryan Thorpe on August 10.
Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe are currently in judicial custody.
A team of Crime Branch also questioned Shilpa Shetty as part of its investigation in the alleged pornography case. He reportedly interrogated her for over five hours at the residence of the ‘Hungama 2’ actress.
According to an IANS report, Shetty said that she was unaware of the content of the Hotshots app.
