The teaser of Mani Ratnam’s much awaited work Ponniyin Selvan will be launched today at an event in Chennai. Earlier, the makers unveiled the first-look poster of Jayam Ravi’s character Arunmozhi Varman aka Raja Raja Cholan. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, who are jointly producing the film, tweeted the first look poster of Jayam Ravi and said, “Introducing the great Raja Raja Chola Ponniyin Selvan, the architect of the Golden Age, the Visionary Prince ki Jai Ho !”
Already, the makers have released the first look posters of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Vanthiyathevan as Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Made on a grand scale, the film stars Rani Nandini and Trisha as Princess Kundavai. The teaser of the film is scheduled to launch on Friday evening, the production house announced.
The film, whose first part will release on September 30 this year, will release in five languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Based on the classic Tamil novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ by noted writer Kalki, the film will tell the story of Rajkumar Arulmozhi Varman, who later came to be known as the legendary king Raja Chozhan. Touted by Mani Ratnam as his dream project, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will be one of the most expensive projects ever in the country.
The film is best in the business of handling each of its departments. AR Rahman is composing the music for this epic historical and the cinematography is done by Ravi Varman. National Award winning art director Thotta Tharani is in charge of the production design, while Mani Ratnam’s credible editor Sreekar Prasad is handling the editing.
