Women SHG members from neighboring Wardha have been protesting in Fadnavis’ hometown Nagpur city for a week demanding release of honorarium, which they claim has been withheld by the state government.

Following the call for protests on Sunday, the city police beefed up security at the office of Fadnavis, who represents the Nagpur South-West assembly constituency and is also the guardian minister of Wardha district.

Nihal Pandey, representing the protesters, said they had planned to take out a rally from Sanvidhan Chowk to Trikoni Park near Fadnavis’ residence to press for their demand.

An official from the Sitabuldi police station said the protesters were stopped when they started marching towards the deputy chief minister’s office.

It has become difficult for these women to survive without honorarium. Fadnavis has not met the protesters despite protests since a week,” claimed Pandey.
