Four people were killed in an encounter that took place on the evening of 15 November in Hyderpora, Srinagar. Questions are being raised on Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding the encounter. Now the state DGP Dilbag Singh has said that if anything wrong has happened then the police is ready to rectify it. At the same time, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sat on a dharna in protest against the encounter. On the other hand, the police had made preparations to hand over the bodies of doctors and other people killed in the encounter late night to their families. For this, the legal process was being completed by calling their families.

Khurshid Ahmed, Additional DM, Srinagar has been given the responsibility of magisterial inquiry into the Hyderpora encounter. According to news agency ANI, Khurshid has also issued an order, asking people to inform and record statements on the incident related to the encounter. Khurshid will have to submit the inquiry report within 15 days.

Relatives had demanded to return the dead body
The families of Altaf Ahmed and Dr. Mudassir have demanded the police to return their bodies so that they can be cremated. The relatives have challenged the authorities to prove that both the civilians had anything to do with terrorism. The police had buried the four people killed in the Hyderpora encounter in Handwara tehsil of north Kashmir, rejecting their demand to return the dead bodies.

According to media reports, Dilbagh Singh said on Thursday that we will consider the demands of the families. If anything goes wrong we are ready to rectify it. The police investigation will also find out what went wrong. He said- We will find out what happened in Hyderpora encounter. We are there for the safety of the people and will not back down from the investigation.

Bandh announced in protest against the encounter
The Hurriyat Conference has also announced a bandh on Friday in protest against the encounter. However, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered an inquiry into the encounter and said that injustice will not be done to anyone. The investigation will be headed by an officer of the rank of Additional District Magistrate.

According to the Kashmir Police, the names of the terrorists killed include Altaf Ahmed and Dr. Mudassir, including the foreign terrorist and his accomplices. Altaf Ahmed Bhat used to help the terrorists, while Dr. Mudassir Gul was the over ground worker of the terrorists, who gave them a place to live. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar has claimed that one of the two terrorists killed was Haider, a Pakistani national.
