Welcome to Times Will Tell, the weekly podcast of the Times of Israel.
We’re talking this week to Bishop Glenn Plummer, a minister, pastor and bishop of the Pentecostal Church that Lazarus Berman is hosting, putting on the hat of his Christian Affairs correspondent.
Plummer was appointed as Israel’s first Pentecostal bishop in 2019, representing the predominantly Black Church, which has nearly nine million followers worldwide.
He was mandated to “embrace Israel” by his position as one of the top African American, pro-Zionist clergy in the US, Plummer said.
Berman and Plummer discuss their first few months in Israel, when some Jewish Israelis felt threatened by their presence and intentions. They also discuss the roots of the Pentecostal Church, Black-Jewish relations in America, evangelical Christianity, and Plummer’s plans and experiences so far in Israel.
