“The age of the convict is around 17 years and seven months, therefore, the child who conflicts with the law will be kept in a safe place till the age of 21. Counselling, skill development, psychological support and behavior modification therapy may be provided during the stay in place of safety,” the court said.
The court also awarded a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victim under Section 33 (8) of the POCSO Act read with Rule 7 of the Act. The matter has been referred to the District Legal Services Authority for the award of compensation.
