Fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi’s sister Purvi Modi has become an official witness in the Punjab National Bank scam. He has also transferred Rs 17 crore from his bank account in UK to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Purvi said, ‘I was aware that there is a bank account in my name in the UK. I had neither opened these accounts nor the money deposited in it is mine, so I have transferred this money to the Government of India.

Purvi Modi gets apology in the scam
According to sources, Purvi Modi, who is living in London, had given an application on January 4. Through the application, Purvi had offered to give information related to the scam to the investigating agency. The investigating agency had accepted this application with certain conditions. In this, Purvi was told that he would have to give correct and complete information related to the scam. The East had accepted this condition. After this, the ED has pardoned Purvi Modi and her husband Mainak Mehta, giving relief from interrogation.

Sent money under investigation process and conditions
Purvi Modi and Mainak Mehta have sent about Rs 17 crore from a UK bank account to the Government of India, accepting the condition of giving every information related to the scam to the investigating agency. This money will be considered only of fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi.

“On June 24, Purvi Modi told us that he had found a bank account in his name in London which was opened at the behest of his brother Nirav Modi,” the probe agency said in a statement. This money is not theirs.’ “Since Purvi Modi was granted apology subject to full and correct disclosure, he has remitted an amount of USD 23 lakh 16 thousand 889.03 from a UK bank account to the Indian government,” the statement said.
