PNB ATM theft: Three of Mewati gang arrested Noida News – Times of India

Noida: Three members of Mewati gang escaped with Rs 17.45 lakh by breaking the lock of PNB ATM Was arrested on Monday near Bilaspur police post on July 13. The accused, identified as Nasir, Imran and Shahid, were on their way from Haryana to Jewar via Begumabad when they were caught by the Jewar police.
According to the police, the trio were on a bike and slipped when a gang member opened fire on the police team near Dayanatpur underpass. He was arrested soon after. Police said nine people were involved in the theft.
Jewar SHO Umesh Bahadur told TOI that while Shahid was waiting on a bike outside the ATM booth, Nasir was waiting for other gang members in a car. Imran helped other accused in the operation.
The arrest of those who allegedly stole the cash box is yet to be done. Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Vishal Pandey said, “The gang conducted a recce of ATM booths without security guards and they entered the Bilaspur ATM booth.”
All the three arrested are history-sheeters and Nasir has cases of robbery and theft and cases under Arms Act are registered against him in Meerut, Bulandshahr and Madhya Pradesh also.
Cases are registered against Shahid and Imran in Jewar and Bulandshahr under theft and Arms Act.
While Nasir and Imran are residents of Jewar’s Nangla Jahanu, Shahid Nangla is a resident of Phool Khan village, that too in Jewar.
A total of two and a half lakh rupees have been recovered from the accused including their bike and 315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges.
