PM Narendra Modi Mumbai visit: Traffic Police issues advisory, check road diversions HERE

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects in Mumbai today, January 19, 2023, including Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7. Traffic police said vehicles would be diverted to some other routes. The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend a function to be held at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), an upscale commercial hub. He is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of projects worth over Rs 38,000 crore during his visit.

Some roads have been closed to traffic. Traffic will be diverted on other roads before the Prime Minister’s visit. “The city traffic police has made elaborate arrangements in view of PM Modi’s visit as traffic has been diverted on some routes while some roads have been temporarily closed,” said an official.

An order issued by the traffic police said, ‘A large number of people from Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra are expected to participate in PM Modi’s program on Thursday. That’s why there can be entry of heavy vehicles on all the roads of the area between 12 pm and 21 pm. Restrictions will remain in place, including the Western Express Highway. However, ambulances, school buses and other buses are exempted from this ban.”

There will be no entry for vehicles coming from Western Express Highway (WEH), Dharavi and Bandra-Worli Sea Link towards Kurla via BKC Family Court and also no entry for vehicles coming from Sant Dnyaneshwar Road towards Kurla .

Entry of vehicles coming from Government Colony, Kanakia Palace and Valmiki Nagar towards BKC complex towards Chunabhatti and Kurla is prohibited. Entry of vehicles coming from Surve Junction and Razzaq Junction to BKC Complex towards Western Express Highway, Dharavi and Worli Sea Link is prohibited.

There will be ‘No Parking’ on any street in the BKC campus. Traffic police said vehicles going from WEH, Bandra-Worli Sea Link to BKC Complex towards Kurla will take a road towards MMRDA Junction and from Dharavi T Junction towards Kurla and Eastern Express Highway.

The traffic police has arranged an alternate route. Vehicles proceeding from Sant Dnyaneshwar Nagar via BKC Complex will proceed towards Kurla via Income Tax Junction Guru Nanak Hospital-Jagat Vidya Mandir Junction-Kala Nagar Junction and Dharavi T Junction.

Vehicles going to Kurla from Kherwadi area via BKC Complex will take a U-turn at Valmiki Nagar and proceed towards Kurla via Government Colony-Kala Nagar Junction-Dharavi T Junction.

“Vehicles proceeding through Chunabhatti to Eastern Express Highway via BKC connector will proceed to their desired destination via NSE Junction-Income Tax Junction-Family Court Junction and then MMRDA Junction,” said an official.
