PM Narendra Modi Bats For Uniform Civil Code, Says ‘The Country Can’t Run On Two Laws’

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a strong pitch for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), saying a country cannot live without two laws. PM Modi made these remarks while interacting with BJP workers in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal after flagging off five Vande Bharat trains for better connectivity.

PM Modi strongly advocated for UCC

“Today people are being instigated in the name of UCC. How can the country run on two (laws)? Constitution also talks about equal rights…Supreme Court has also asked to implement UCC. They (Opposition) People are playing vote bank politics,” the PM said, adding that “appeasement politics has left many people behind”.

The Prime Minister, who formally launched the BJP’s election campaign in the poll-bound state of Madhya Pradesh, questioned if triple talaq is not alien to Islam, then it is practiced in Muslim-majority countries like Egypt, Indonesia, Qatar, Jordan, Syria Why is it not done? , Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Advocating for a Uniform Civil Code, the Prime Minister said that “different rules for different members of a family” would not augur well for the country. Citing the example of Egypt, where 90 per cent of the population is Sunni Muslims, the PM said they abolished triple talaq 80 to 90 years ago. Attacking his political opponents, the PM said, “Those who advocate triple talaq, these vote bank hungry people are doing gross injustice to Muslim daughters.”

PM Modi attacked the opposition

Mocking the opposition unity ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi said, “You remember what happened in 2014 and 2019?” The staunch opponents of BJP were neither so agitated in 2014 nor in 2019. The enemies have now come together. The leaders who used to abuse each other are now bowing down to each other. Don’t get angry on them, have mercy.” The PM further said, “Now this is their compulsion. It is clear from their nervousness that the people have made up their mind to vote for the BJP in the 2024 elections.

PM Modi expressed confidence that his party BJP will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi said, “And this is the reason why all opposition parties have gone mad. Elections are few months away and opposition parties have now decided to instigate the public to gain power at any cost.”

PM lauds BJP booth workers

In view of the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the Prime Minister asserted that BJP’s booth workers are its biggest strength as they ensure to reach out to people at the grassroots level to make the party the biggest in the country.

“The biggest strength of BJP is its workers. They have made the party the biggest party in the country. I thank JP Nadda for organizing this program today, through which I am reaching out to nearly 10 lakh booth workers of BJP virtually. I am able to address. There is no such virtual program.” This has never happened in the history of any political party,” PM Modi said while interacting with BJP booth workers in Bhopal. These workers have been selected from all states through a process defined by party president JP Nadda through the NaMo app.

For 10 days, these workers will interact with boot level BJP workers in poll-bound states and share their experiences and best practices. Five months before the upcoming assembly elections, an exercise is being done to activate the party workers at the lower level.

PM Modi further said that Madhya Pradesh played an important role in making BJP the biggest party in the world. PM Modi said, “We are not activists who issue fatwas sitting in air-conditioned rooms. We go to the people and remain committed round the clock.”
