Jawad Cyclone is being formed due to deep depression in the Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm can reach the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Saturday morning. In view of this, a warning of heavy rain with strong winds has been issued in the coastal areas including Odisha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting on Thursday in view of the preparations to deal with Jawad. Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and many senior officials were present in the meeting. The government is on alert mode regarding the cyclone. After the meeting of the Prime Minister, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) has also deployed 33 more teams. The government is on alert mode regarding the cyclone.

NDRF Director General Atul Karwal said – 29 teams were deployed in essential areas to deal with the Jawad. 33 more teams are also being deployed. Apart from this, more teams are being kept ready. Army and Navy have also been asked to be prepared. At the same time, all the people from the affected areas have been shifted to a safer place.

Odisha districts on red alert
Odisha government has issued instructions to the DMs of 13 districts of the state. In this, people have been asked to be evacuated from the coastal areas and be ready for the rescue operation. IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rain in Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued for December 4 in Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the coastal areas of West Bengal.
