NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday replied to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha in the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament.
Here are the highlights of his address:
* There is a new world order post Covid pandemic. We are being recognized as a leader. India must take the global leadership role.
* ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ perfect time to think about how India can play global leadership role in coming years.
* Today, even a poor person’s house is worth lakhs of rupees. Today, poor people of the country are getting a gas & connection, house & toilets. They have their own bank account. But unfortunately, some people’s (opposition) minds are still stuck in 2014.
* In dig at Congress, PM Modi recounts how long it’s been since the grand old party formed a government in various states.
“In UP, Bihar and Gujarat, Congress won way back in 1985. In West Bengal, it was 1972 when Congress was last favored by the people,” said PM Modi
* You (Congress) take credit for creating Telangana, but people of Telangana haven’t accepted you. Question is not of elections, it is of intention.
* Despite being in power for so long, the people of this country is now snubbing them (Congress) for good.
* Your ego (Congress) remains despite suffering back-to-back electoral losses over the years.
* India will fully vaccinate 80% of its eligible population soon. Covid was a global pandemic but it was used a tool for politics by some. Congress crossed all limits during the pandemic.
* PM Modi accuses Congress of triggering the migrant crisis during the first lockdown in 2020.
“During the first wave, when people were following lockdowns, guidelines were suggesting that people stay where they are, the Congress was standing at Mumbai Station and scaring innocent people.”
* Those who are still in the Delhi government used microphones, went to residential areas and told people to leave. Till when will such politics continue.
* It seems like Congress does not want to return to power for the next 100 years.
