Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, the PMO said in an official statement. The Prime Minister’s vision of providing fast-paced connectivity across the country is behind the expressway, the statement said. Starting from near Bijauli village of Meerut, this expressway will go to Judapur Dandu village of Prayagraj.

The PMO said the 594-km-long six-lane expressway will be built at a cost of over Rs 36,200 crore.

It will pass through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. The PMO said that upon completion, it will become the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh connecting the western and eastern regions of the state.

The statement said the expressway will boost several sectors including industrial development, trade, agriculture, tourism etc. This will provide a major boost to the socio-economic development of the region.
