PM Modi to officials: Make sure oxygen plants are working at the earliest, train staff for maintenance India News – Times of India

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the production and availability of medical oxygen across the country.
They were briefed about the progress on the establishment of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plant. More than 1500 such plants will be set up across the country. Once completed, they will support over 4 lakh oxygenated beds, the prime minister was informed. every district has to meet PSA Oxygen Plants contributing to PM CARES.
PM Modi stressed on speedy completion of these plants and close coordination with the state governments in the matter.

He also inquired about the availability of trained personnel for operation and maintenance of oxygen plants. He emphasized on implementing advanced technology to monitor the performance and functioning of these plants.
He was told that 8000 people across the country would be trained on modules prepared by experts. A pilot project with IoT technology was also being undertaken to monitor the performance of oxygen plants.
During the peak of the second Covid wave, many parts of the country witnessed a severe shortage of oxygen. Oxygen had to be diverted for industrial use to meet the requirement in hospitals. Railways run several Oxygen Express trains to meet the requirement in different areas.
Now the emphasis is on accelerating the oxygen production and supply infrastructure for a possible third wave of COVID-19 and to set up large cities like Delhi and Mumbai as well to create a buffer stock to meet the requirements in case of a spike. . Discussions are going on to set up storage hubs in the states to meet the requirement to a great extent.
