PM Modi to meet startups today to discuss how to boost startup ecosystem in India

PM Modi’s interaction with startups: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to interact with over 150 startups across various sectors to understand the contribution of startups towards the country. This will be done through video conferencing on Saturday, January 15 at 10:30 am, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release. The PMO in its notification issued a day ago said that startups from various sectors including enterprise systems, space, Industry 4.0, security, fintech, environment and others will be part of this interaction. The meeting is drawing closer to this year’s budget session, which will begin on January 31.

This is the sixth year of the government’s flagship program Startup India. As a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a week long event, “Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem”, being organized by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry from 10th to 16th January 2022. The event was launched on 6th marks the anniversary of the Startup India initiative,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in the notification.

Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, which aims to promote innovation and startups in the country by creating a strong ecosystem that will lead to sustainable economic growth and generate massive employment opportunities.

“Startups from various sectors including agriculture, health, enterprise systems, space, Industry 4.0, security, fintech, environment etc. will be part of this interaction. growing from roots; nibble DNA; from local to global; future technology; Build Champions in Construction; and sustainable development,” the PMO said in its release.

Each group will make a presentation to PM Modi on the topic allotted in the conversation. The aim of the interaction is to understand how startups can contribute to the national needs by driving innovation in the country, the PMO said in a release issued on Friday, January 14.

The press release issued by the government also said that PM Modi firmly believes in the potential of startups and contributes significantly to the development of the nation. This was reflected in the launch of the flagship initiative Startup India in 2016. The government has worked on providing an enabling environment to promote the growth and development of startups.

“This has had a tremendous impact on the startup ecosystem in the country, and has led to the staggering growth of unicorns in the country,” the PMO further said in its press release.

PM Modi’s dialogue session comes days before the government’s upcoming budget session, where the finance minister is scheduled to present the 2022 budget on February 1.
