Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke over the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed the safe evacuation of Indian students from war-torn Ukraine, especially the city of Kharkiv.

The leaders reviewed the situation in Ukraine, particularly in the city of Kharkiv where several Indian students are stranded and discussed their evacuation from conflict zones.

Earlier this evening, PM Modi also held a high-level meeting in New Delhi on the issue of evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in the war-torn country.

Meanwhile, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said, “A total of 3500 students from Bucharest and about 1300 hours from Suseva will leave for India in the next 2 days.”

The minister further said that on Thursday he will leave for the Sirat border and will stay there for two days till every Indian is evacuated from Sirat.
