Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is likely to reply to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha, was today seen in Parliament in a special blue jacket, which has been recycled from plastic bottles.

The jacket presented to him by Indian Oil Corporation during the India Energy Week in Bengaluru on Monday is made from recycled PET bottles.

The aim of the Energy Week was to showcase India’s growing strength as an energy transition superpower.

Over 100 million PET bottles will be recycled to make sustainable clothing for India Oil employees and the armed forces.

Recently, the government launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an outlay of Rs 19,700 crore, which will facilitate the transition of the economy to low carbon intensity, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports and provide the country with technology and market access in this area. Will help in adopting leadership.

In the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided an outlay of Rs 35,000 crore for energy transition and achieving net zero objectives and listed green growth among seven priorities of the government.
