PM Modi says Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road rail line will boost connectivity

The 116.65 km long Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road rail line has been approved for construction by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs at an estimated cost of Rs 2,798.16 crore. “The Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road rail line will boost connectivity and further socio-economic progress. It also fulfills the long standing demand to improve access to Ambaji,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweet read.

This project to be built by the Ministry of Railways will connect two states and three religious places and will be completed by 2026-27. The proposed rail line will pass through Sirohi district of Rajasthan and Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and Mahesana districts of Gujarat.

Ambaji is one of the 51 ‘Shakti Peeths’, which attract lakhs of devotees every year from Gujarat as well as from other parts of the country and abroad. Mount Abu is the headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris community and has followers from all over the world.

With the construction of this railway line, lakhs of devotees will be able to travel easily. Visitors to the temple of Ajitnath Jain (one of the 24 Tirthankaras) located at Taranga Hill will get direct employment for about 40 lakh man-days.

“The estimated cost of this project is Rs 2,798.16 crore and will be completed by 2026-27. The new railway line will connect two states and three religious places and reduce the load on the main railway line,” Thakur said in a press release. Briefing.

Apart from increasing connectivity and mobility, the project will boost the overall socio-economic development of the region.

The line will facilitate faster movement of agricultural and local products and improve the mobility of people between Gujarat and Rajasthan as well as other parts of the country. The project will also provide an alternative route to the existing Ahmedabad-Abu Road railway line. The new line will also benefit the dairy industry of Mehsana and the marble industry of Gujarat.
