PM Modi, Saudi Foreign Minister discuss regional development, situation in Afghanistan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and discussed regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan. The foreign ministry release said the meeting allowed the exchange of perspectives on regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan.
The meeting reviewed the progress of various bilateral initiatives taken under the aegis of the Council for Strategic Partnership established between the two countries. The Prime Minister expressed India’s eagerness to see greater investments from Saudi Arabia, including in key sectors such as energy, IT and defense manufacturing.
PM Modi also expressed his special thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for taking care of the welfare of the Indian expatriates during the COVID-19 pandemic, the release said.
The Prime Minister also extended his warm greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the King and His Highness the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

This is the first ministerial visit from Saudi Arabia to India since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prince Faisal bin Farhan is on a three-day visit to New Delhi.
The Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday.
They discussed all issues relating to their bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on developments in Afghanistan and other regional issues.
