PM Modi launches new digital payment system e-RUPI: Key Points – Times of India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched on monday India’s new digital payment system e-RUPI through video conferencing.
it is developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) at is i forum, in collaboration with Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and National Health Authority.
Here are the highlights of Modi’s address:
* e-rupee Vouchers will enable more prevalent digital transactions in the country.
* Today the country is giving a new dimension to digital governance through e-RUPI.
* Vouchers are going to play an important role in making Direct Benefit Transactions (DBT) more effective in digital transactions in India.
* It will help everyone in targeted, transparent and leak free delivery.
* This technology will not only help the government, but if any general organization wants to help in treatment, education or any other work, then it can give e-RUPI instead of cash.
* The platform will ensure that the funds given by any organization are used for the same work for which that amount was given.
* E-RUPI is individual as well as purpose specific. Today the thinking of the country is different and new. We see technology as a tool to help the poor, a tool for their progress.
* e-RUPI is an example of how India is moving ahead in the 21st century with the help of advanced technology and connecting people.
* I am glad that it has started in the year when India celebrates its 75th anniversary of independence.
Today India is showing the world that they are second to none in adopting and connecting with technology.
* When it comes to innovations, use of technology in service delivery, India has the potential to deliver global leadership along with the big countries of the world.
* The government started PM Swanidhi Yojana under which it can help more than 23 lakh street vendors. During this period of Kovid, he has been given about Rs 2,300 crore.
The world is accepting the iron of the work that has been done in the last 6-7 years for digital infrastructure and digital transactions in the country.
* Especially in India, a huge base of fintech has been created. This is not the case even in large countries.
* e-RUPI is a cashless and contactless means of digital payments.
* It is a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher, which is delivered to the mobile of the beneficiaries.
* It connects sponsors of services with beneficiaries and service providers in a digital manner without any physical interface.
