PM Modi dedicated the creation of RRU to the nation, stresses on the need for training to meet new challenges

new Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said there is a need to improve law and order in recruitment after India’s independence, but the country has lagged behind.

The statement comes after PM Modi dedicated the National Defense University (RRU) building in Gandhinagar to the nation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Governor Acharya Devvrat and CM Bhupendra Patel were also present on this occasion.

Prime Minister Modi today addressed the first convocation of the National Defense University as the Chief Guest where he emphasized the need for training people to meet the new security challenges.

“After independence, there was a need for reforms in recruitment in law and order. Unfortunately, we were left behind. There is a perception about the police to stay away from them, the same is not true of the army. It is necessary that the police Manpower should be trained in such a way that they are cordial with the people,” PM Modi said.

“We have seen that during the COVID pandemic, many policemen in uniform gave food and medicines to the needy during the lockdown. People saw the human face of the police,” he said at the convocation.

He highlighted that technology has now become a potential weapon in the security system and now people with disabilities can also contribute to the security sector.

The Prime Minister said in Gandhinagar, “Technology has now become a potential weapon in the security system. Mere physical training is not enough to be in the security forces, now people with disabilities can contribute to the security sector even if they are not physically fit. Huh.” ,

Beginning his two-day tour of Gujarat, Narendra Modi on Friday held a grand roadshow in Ahmedabad as the BJP swept to a massive victory in four states.

Today before his visit to RRU, he did another roadshow at Dahegam, Gandhinagar.

After this, the Prime Minister will announce the inauguration of the 11th Khel Mahakumbh and will deliver a speech on the occasion at 6.30 pm.

About RRU and Khel Mahakumbh

National Defense University (RRU) was established in 2020 to meet the requirement of high quality trained manpower in various wings of Policing, Criminal Justice and Reform Administration. National Police University, now known as National Defense University, was earlier called Raksha Shakti University and was established in 2010.

The University aims to develop synergies with the private sector by leveraging knowledge and resources from industry and will also establish centers of excellence in various areas related to police and security.

RRU offers academic programs from diploma to doctoral level in various areas of police and internal security such as police science and management, criminal law and justice, cyber psychology, information technology, artificial intelligence, and cyber security, crime investigation, strategic languages, internal security. Is. and Strategies, Physical Education and Sports, Coastal and Maritime Security. At present 822 students from 18 states are enrolled in these programmes.

On the other hand, Khel Mahakumbh, which has revolutionized the sports ecosystem in Gujarat, started in 2010 under Modi’s leadership. With 16 sports and 1.3 million participants, Khel Mahakumbh today comprises 36 general sports and 26 para-sports. More than 45 lakh players have registered for the 11th Khel Mahakumbh.

With no age limit, the event is attended by people from across the state, who participate in various events over a period of one month. It is a unique amalgamation of traditional sports like kabaddi, kho-kho, tug of war, yogasana, mallakhamb and modern sports like artistic skating, tennis and fencing.

It has been instrumental in identifying raw talent in sports at the grassroots level. It has also emphasized on para-sports in Gujarat.
