PM Modi Condoles Death Of Ghanashyam Nayak Aka Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Nattu Kaka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the demise of actor Ghanashyam Nayak, who was best known for his portrayal of Natu Kaka in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’

The actor died of cancer on 3 October at the age of 77. PM Modi shared an emotional tweet condoling the star’s death. “In the last few days, we have lost two talented actors who have won hearts with their work. Shri Ghanshyam Nayak will be remembered for his versatile roles, especially in the popular show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. He was extremely kind and humble too,” he tweeted.

As per reports, the veteran actor underwent surgery last year after being diagnosed with cancer. He had acted in around 100 Gujarati and Hindi films along with his work in around 350 Hindi serials.

Nayak started out as a child artist in 1960 and went on to a crowded career in Gujarati and Hindi films and on the Gujarati stage. He lent his voice as a playback singer along with Asha Bhosle and Mahendra Kapoor.

However, he will be best remembered for playing the role of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undaiwala aka Nattu Kaka, who handles the accounts section of the electrical store run by the serial’s lead character, Jethalal Gada, essayed by Dilip Joshi. Whenever Jethalal assigns Nattu Kaka a task he doesn’t want to do, he pretends not to listen and shouts, “Hey, ‘I said something’? (Did you say anything to me?)”

Those words will remain in the collective memory of countless fans of Ghanshyam Nayak.
