PM Modi chairs meeting to review vaccination campaign, asks officials to speed up testing

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a meeting with several officials of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Health Secretary and NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul to review the ongoing vaccination campaign in the country.

During the meeting that began around 5 pm, the official shared the report on the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign to the PM.

According to reports, the Prime Minister directed the officials to work with the states to ensure that the pace of testing does not slow down as testing is a very important tool to track and prevent the rising infection in any region. .

The officials present in the meeting also apprised the Prime Minister about the growing interest in the CoWIN platform globally. Responding to which, PM Modi said that with India’s rich technical expertise in the form of CoWIN platform, efforts should be made to help all the countries expressing interest.

“The PM was informed that 377 crore doses have been administered in the last 6 days which is more than the entire population of countries like Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Canada,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

Further, the PM underlined the need to involve NGOs and other organizations in the vaccination campaign, with officials saying that they would work with state governments to explore and implement innovative ways to reach out to people for vaccination. We are in touch, the PMO said.
