While many athletes have grabbed headlines for their eccentric style at this year’s Games, one Olympian is making headlines for her Olympic-inspired nail paint.

We are talking about Australia’s lightweight boxer Harry Garside. The boxer has done his country proud by creating history by becoming the only Australian to enter the light boxing semi-finals. And Garside is now in the news for its unusual nail paints. Boxing is considered to be a very masculine sport and it is moving to see that a boxer acknowledges his feminine side by flaunting nail paints.

The 24-year-old Commonwealth Games champion is also known for her love of ballet, in fact she has included it in her official training regimen. Just after his quarterfinal win, Garside was seen taking off his gloves and showing off his Olympic-inspired rainbow nails.

“I just want to break stereotypes, to be honest,” he has said.

“There’s a lot of people out there who feel like they must be something because they’re male or female. I’m just about to be different.”

Garside, who is also a qualified plumber, also admitted that for a moment he considered wearing a dress to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
