Players will be charged and ready for IPL and then T20 World Cup: Aaron Finch

Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch has opened up about his past comments on the team’s players’ involvement IPL, adding that he had not taken into account Bio Bubble fatigue. Finch had said in June that it would be difficult for the players to justify playing in the IPL but missed the national tours.

Finch had then said, “I think it will be difficult for him to justify going back and playing the second half of the IPL. Totally based on the workload that comes with a T20 World Cup and a huge home heat.”

“It’s really tough. It’s a tough situation that everyone is placed in, but personally I would find it difficult to know how difficult it is and how mentally challenging it is, and on your family as well. That’s what I would think “

Finch explained his comments, reasoning:

“(Those comments) were more around bubble fatigue and I probably didn’t pay attention to how the whole summer affected people,” Finch told cricket.com.au.

“It was a long summer, especially for those who started on the UK tour. When I made these comments before the West Indies tour, I probably didn’t pay attention to it.

“If you throw that all together and throw that straight behind him in the IPL, and a lot of uncertainty around that and some really strict bubble protocol – I didn’t take that into account.”

Australian players have now got approval to play in the IPL in the UAE. Finch said he has to beware of bubble fatigue.

“The fact that the guys have got a good break now, they will be in charge and ready for the IPL and then the T20 World Cup, then there will be a big summer against England,” Finch said.

“Guys still have to really take care of how they manage themselves during that (IPL) period, as there is no escape from the game.

“There’s no going down the street to relax and have coffee, or have a beer together, outside the cricketing atmosphere.”
