Mohammad Kaif questions NCA’s approach as Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar battle recurring injury problems
Former India player-turned-commentator Mohammad Kaif has questioned the approach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) amidst the injury crisis of players like Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar.
Bumrah has been on the sidelines for a while, having missed last year’s T20 World Cup, though he was included in the Indian squad for the assignment against Sri Lanka earlier this year, with the star pacer subsequently being dropped from the squad had gone and they were not included. The former India batsman said there should be more transparency when it comes to fitness and recovery of players. Kaif said that he wanted to know what was the timeline of Bumrah’s recovery so that the gray areas could be understood better.

Meanwhile, Bumrah recently underwent surgery for his back problem in New Zealand and it remains to be seen when he will return to full fitness. Chahar is another player troubled by injuries but he is being looked after by the Chennai Super Kings medical staff during their ongoing IPL 2023 campaign.
