Highlight

  • Lack of leadership was the major difference in the defense of Telugu Titans
  • Titans are without a win in season 8 and are at the bottom of the points table
  • Rakesh from Gujarat has been his standout performer in season 8, and he even pulled out a ‘dubki’

Rakesh’s stellar performance helped Gujarat Giants beat Telugu Titans 40-22 in the 48th match of the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 here.

Rakesh scored a Super 10 (16 points) for the Giants, while Parvesh Bhainswal scored 4 tackle points. The lack of leadership was a major gap in the Telugu Titans’ defense with raider Rajneesh putting up his best performance with 12 points. The team is without a win in season 8 and is at the bottom of the points table.

Gujarat started without their experienced corner duo Ravinder Pahal and Girish Ernak in the line-up. The Titans, already missing veteran raiders Rohit Kumar and Siddharth Desai, did not start with Sandeep Kandola replacing young Mohammad Shihas. Not surprisingly, the first half belonged to the raiders with so many changes in defence.

Gujarat’s Rakesh started his all out effort in the 8th minute by scoring his first Super Raid (3 points) of the match. The Giants eventually got past it to take a 7-point lead in the space of 8 minutes. Titans’ Rajneesh collected valuable raid points, but his team failed to support him in defense.

Rakesh from Gujarat has had exceptional performances in season 8, and he pulled off a “dip” close to the gap to get another 3-point super raid. Rakesh picked up his Super 10 as Gujarat finished the first half on top with a score of 20-13.
