Kanpur: Hearing on bail application of perfume trader Piyush Jain The Court of Incharge Special CJM/ACM (II) adjourned for a day. Kanpur Nagar when on thursday DGGI Ahmedabad Asked for time to file objection.
The presiding judge in his order allowed the stay application filed by Special Prosecutor Advocate Ambareesh Tandon on behalf of DGGI Ahmedabad. The special prosecutor had sought three days’ time to file an objection to the bail application. Piyush Jain.
In fact, Piyush Jain had filed his bail application on Wednesday and the prosecution had sought 10 days’ time to read the contents of the bail application and file his objections. But the court gave only one day’s time.
Speaking to TOI, Ambareesh Tandon said that in the morning he had received an email from DGGI Ahmedabad requesting to give at least three days’ time to file an objection.
Piyush Jain was arrested by the DGGI Ahmedabad team after a team raided his house in Anand Puri and seized a large amount of money and valuables from his Kannauj residence. DGGI had filed a charge sheet against Piyush Jain in the money recovery case. The charge sheet in the recovery of gold and sandalwood oil will be filed later.
Piyush Jain’s lawyer Chinmoy Pathak had said in the 26-page bail application that Piyush was wrongly arrested. The act provided for a maximum imprisonment of five years and as per the law no arrest shall be made for a sentence of up to seven years.
Under the GST law, collection of tax was crucial and Piyush was ready to pay GST. The government was incurring tax losses due to Piyush’s imprisonment.
