Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro may never arrive in India: Google says India not in launch plans

Google earlier this week Pixel 6 Series Smartphones – Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. With the launch, Pixel fans in India were excited as to whether the smartphone would arrive in India. While Google said earlier this year that the Pixel 6 would initially come in only eight regions, there were still hopes that India could join the list somewhat later. Now, Google has said that a launch in India for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is not currently in its planning. Google has said in a statement that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not coming to India due to various reasons.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were launched on October 19 with Google’s new in-house Tensor chip. The smartphones come with Android 12 out of the box. “Due to several factors including global demand supply issues, we are not able to make our products available in all markets. We remain committed to our current Pixel phones and look forward to bringing future Pixel devices to more countries in the future.”

This is not the first time Google Has not decided to launch Pixel smartphone in India. Actually, the company has not launched any Pixel except Pixel 4a in India since the Pixel 4 series. The Pixel 4, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a did not arrive in India and now, it looks like the Pixel 6 series may not have an Indian launch.

Experts are said to be of the view that Google does not consider India a priority market when it comes to Pixel for various reasons. An NDTV report quoted an analyst at IDC as saying that most Indians prefer specifications when buying a phone, and the Pixel lineup has been specified as low as the Pixel 6 series. Also, 90 percent of the market in India is below Rs 20,000.

The eight regions where the Pixel 6 series will be launched initially are the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Germany, Australia, France, and Taiwan.
