Most of the dead have similarly lost their lives by getting trapped in iron nets.
6 laborers have died in a major accident in Pune late on Thursday night. During the construction of the mall, all the laborers who died due to the fall of the iron slab were residents of Bihar. 3 laborers have also been seriously injured in this accident. Therefore, the death toll may also increase. All the injured have been admitted to Wadia Hospital. where his condition remains critical.
The rescue work was continued by the fire department till the early hours of Friday.
All the laborers had to be pulled out by cutting the net. Rescue work was delayed due to darkness.
Some others were also injured, who have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over this accident. He tweeted his condolences to the families of the deceased.
The accident took place due to a technical fault in the structure. The Municipal Corporation has ordered an inquiry into the entire matter.
The accident happened near Shastri Wadia Bungalow in Yerwada area. A mall was being built here. The iron slab in its basement collapsed. Pune DCP Rohidas Pawar said that the precautions that should have been taken during the construction may not have been taken.
All the deceased were residents of Bihar and were working at night against the rules. Accidental death report has been registered at Yerwada police station.

Traffic Police Commissioner Rahul Shriram told that the work was going on till late night in the building, when suddenly a huge slab of iron fell. When the accident happened, 10 laborers were working there. Most of the laborers who died are said to be from Bihar.
Information is also being received about the arrival of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar at the spot in a short time.
Local MLA Sunil Tangre said, “I have come to know that the construction work is going on 24 hours a day at this site. So we don’t know for how long these laborers were working. They must be tired, which may have caused an accident. The other laborers present here have informed me that the injured are from Bihar. The authorities have started investigation into the reasons behind the collapse of the building.”
The laborers could not come out as the iron net was dense and 7 died on the spot.
Several fire brigade teams are still present at the spot. However, the rescue operation was stopped at 6 am.
